The L520 is a 2-way bookshelf made by my favorite speaker company--it earned respect in the '80s for build quality and sonic finesse. The 8" Stifflite woofer with rubber surround delivers tight, well-controlled bass--contemporary speakers suffered foam rot. The 1" cloth dome tweeter plays extended highs with great dispersion. The 12 dB/octave x-over @ 1,500 Hz blends highs to midrange smoothly. Impedance of 6 ohms nominal makes your amplifier produce more power (useful for the sensitivity of 92 dB SPL @ 1W/1m). Frequency response: 35 Hz – 20,000 Hz ±3 dB is unheard of in a speaker this small. The system can handle up to 100 peak watts and play loudly. The cabinet is a natural walnut veneer, and this pair is in great shape. Finally, the frameless bronze metal grille is more acoustically transparent and durable than cloth counterparts. Its sound profile is tight, fast bass with surprising extension for its size--natural mids and sweet treble with excellent imaging and tonal balance, especially with a good amp. These played mostly classical music--they don't look 40+!Read More
