The 506 is a semi-automatic turntable ca 1980, part of Dual’s 500 series that featured their ULM (Ultra Low Mass) tonearms and German precision engineering. It uses an 8-pole synchronous motor with flat belt pulling a 1kg non-magnetic aluminum platter with strobe markings. The tonearm uses a 4-point gyroscopic gimbal suspension that will track anything! It has the original proprietary Ortofon ULM45 cartridge, which still sounds good. Noise level -70dB, wow/flutter 0.04% and pitch control +/-6%. Unit is speed-stable even with the original belt (which we replaced). This uses a proprietary cartridge mount, so standard ½" cartridges require an adapter and counterweight.Read More
