The NA7004 is a feature-rich network player built ~ 2010, with the latest (then) digital streaming. It was part of Marantz’s push to integrate high-res audio, internet radio, and computer-based playback into a single, audiophile-grade component. Crazy-good tech, the 7004 was built around a Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC, capable of decoding up to 24-bit/96kHz FLAC, WAV, MP3, AAC, and WMA files. It supports DLNA 1.5 for streaming from networked devices, and includes vTuner internet radio with access to over 14,000 stations. It LACKS ON-BOARD WIFI so Ethernet connection is required. Inputs include:• USB Type A (front) for iPod/iPhone or flash drives• USB Type B (rear) for high-bit-rate audio from a PC• Optical and coaxial digital inputs• Analog RCA outputs• RS-232 and Marantz D-Bus for system integrationThe unit features Marantz HDAM-SA2 discrete analog circuitry, a high-quality headphone amp, and a three-line OLED display. The front panel is a mix of brushed aluminum and reinforced resin, consistent with Marantz’s 003-series aesthetic. This is Marantz’s first open-platform streamer, moving beyond proprietary systems to embrace AirPlay (via paid firmware upgrade), DLNA, and USB DAC functionality. $799 at launch, collectors still value the NA7004 for its standalone DAC performance, analog warmth, and legacy support for iPod-era devices. It’s useful in hybrid setups where digital convenience meets analog fidelity.Read More
