The SA‑626 sits with early‑80s silver‑face receivers where the company was blending clean styling with truly robust amplifier sections. It’s a mid‑line model from around 1982–1983, delivering roughly 55 watts per channel into 8 ohms with Technics’ characteristic low‑distortion Class AB design and a tuner section that was considered excellent. The faceplate layout is classic Technics: wide tuning dial, beefy knobs, and a symmetrical aesthetic. Inside, it uses a discrete output stage, a solid power supply, and a phono preamp that performs well. The large transformer allows for plenty of all-day power + any peak demands. This vintage-ish unit works very well with 1 idiosyncrasy: power button failed and the owner wired a toggle switch on the side of the chassis--looks funny, works fine.Read More
